Sr. Martha Sijota, OLVM

SISTER MARTHA SIJOTA, OLVM, 90, a resident of Saint Anne at Victory Noll, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Saint Anne at Victory Noll, Huntington, Indiana.

Sister Martha was born in Gleneden Beach, Oregon on August 29, 1929, to John Sijota and Olga (Wzientek) Sijota. Two brothers, Francis Sijota and Paul Sijota, precede her in death. Surviving are one brother, Howard Hamilton of Newburg, Oregon, and three sisters, Rosemary Brown, Barbara Sijota of Salem, Oregon, and Susan Barker of Lynnwood, Washington. She is also survived by her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared life and community for 64 years.

Sister Martha entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on September 6, 1956, and made first vows on August 5, 1959. She served in California, and Wyoming as in Religious Education in several different parishes. Sister Martha returned to Huntington in 1992 to give service to Victory Noll. She served as an assistant to the Holy Family Healthcare Coordinator and nursing department. She often accompanied sisters to medical appointments and emergency room visits and this was a position that she continued to serve in until her full retirement in 2013.

Services will be private followed by burial at Victory Noll Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
