Sr. Ruth Ellert, OLVM

SISTER RUTH ELLERT, OLVM, 92, a resident of Saint Anne at Victory Noll, died Monday, February 3, 2020, at Saint Anne at Victory Noll, Huntington, Indiana.

Sister Ruth was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on July 12, 1927, to John Ellert and Victoria (Royal) Ellert. Both of her sisters, Constance Lindsley and Jo Ann Freygang, precede her in death. Her nieces and nephews survive her along with her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared life and community for 68 years.

Sister Ruth was a member of the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, entering the Congregation on September 6, 1951, and made first vows on August 5, 1954. She served the first 20 years in missions in California before moving to Utah. She also served in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Oregon and Wyoming. Sister returned to California for the last seven years before returning to Victory Noll in 2009. She was director of Religious Education and also served in the many areas of adult formation and pastoral ministry.

A Vigil Service will be at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, with a visitation from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel, 1900 W Park Drive, Huntington, IN.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2020, with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel, 1900 W Park Drive, Huntington, IN.

Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
