SISTER MARY ADELE MASSARO, OLVM, 94, died Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Saint Anne Community Victory Noll, Huntington, Indiana.
Sister Mary Adele was born in Poggio Picenze, Italy on October 24, 1925, to Giuseppe Massaro and Angelica Ferrari Massaro. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Antonio, Primo, and Martino Massaro, and one sister, Josephine Ruschell. Sister Mary Adele is survived by her nieces and nephews and by her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared life and community for 74 years.
Sister Mary Adele entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 27, 1945, and made first vows on August 5, 1948. Her first mission was in Middlesex New Jersey. In true missionary style, she also served the missions in Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. In 1988, Sister Mary Adele began her last ministry placement as a Pastoral Assistant at Saint Alphonsus Parish in San Antonio, Texas. In 2003 she “officially” retired, however she continued to minister in the parish as a pastoral volunteer until she returned to Victory Noll in 2013 after 24 years at Saint Alphonsus.
Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel, 1900 W Park Drive, Huntington, IN.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN.
Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
